Video stories + global pages + flex reporting periods accelerate learning to drive impact!

This release enables non-profit and social impact program teams to accelerate knowledge sharing across all projects, easily record and share results for any reporting frequency, and amplify the voice of change with video-enabled digital stories.

Please see the following for more details:

New global navigation: b.world’s global navigation—or the persistent left sidebar—now includes Stories, Tasks, Stakeholders and Whiteboards. This enables you to accelerate knowledge management, learning, and sharing across your organization and with your key stakeholders. Because you need to manage work and stakeholders across your organization, b.world also enables you to create and manage Tasks and Stakeholders without connecting them to specific projects. The benefits of these features include:

  • Global Tasks: b.world can be used as an organization-wide task management tool, both for tasks that are and aren’t associated with a project. Tasks can also be connected to or disconnected from a project at any time. Moreover, users who are involved in multiple projects across their organization can view all relevant tasks in one view.

  • Global Stakeholders: b.world can now serve as a simple CRM—a place to store all stakeholder contact information whether or not a stakeholder is associated with any projects.

Indicators with flexible reporting frequency: b.world now includes the option to select a ‘Flexible’ reporting frequency for an indicator because reported data isn’t always tied to a specific date. This is particularly useful for projects and indicators where data may only be captured at a couple points (e.g., before and after an intervention). Historically, b.world only enabled selecting fixed reporting frequencies which spanned a designated period of time (e.g., data will be reported for X indicator on a weekly basis from January 15, 2022-June 15, 2022). However, input from b.world users and subject matter experts revealed that not all projects—or indicators—require such stringent reporting requirements.

Above: ‘Reporting Frequency’ dropdown menu on the Indicator Setup window now includes the option to select a ‘Flexible’ reporting frequency.

Videos in stories: Video is up to 3 times more impactful than still images. b.world now allows you to easily embed YouTube videos in stories so you can amplify the voice of change and drive stakeholders to action. Video controls enable playing the video within the story page or opening the video in a new tab. Other options for including videos in stories (e.g., upload from Instagram, desktop, etc.) are being planned.

Bug Fixes and Minor UI Improvements:

  • Registration: Legacy, broken ‘Complete My Profile’ button in b.world ‘Welcome’ email was removed.

  • Overview: Stakeholders added and then subsequently removed from an indicator can now be removed from the project if no data has been added for that indicator.

  • Logframe: y-axis values on charts accommodate all baseline and target values entered for each indicator.

  • Whiteboard: Default text for content blocks (e.g., Objective) can now be easily overwritten.

  • Stories: Story creation and viewing has been optimized for mobile devices.

  • Miscellaneous: Broken ‘Contact Us’ and ‘Change Password’ pages have been fixed.

As always, please continue to share your feedback and let us know what you love or if anything is not functioning in the platform as expected. Thank you for your ongoing involvement and insight as we strive to design and build the best b.world we can for you and your social impact colleagues around the world.
